FDA – White Oak, MD

Owner: GSA
Engineer: RTKL
GC: Clark

Building 54 is one of the office buildings created as part of the relocation of the FDA to the old NSWC base in White Oak, MD. The HVAC design was underfloor air distribution. The Design was to provide VAV zone control without the use of terminal units under the floor except in conference rooms. Metropolitan Equipment Group (MEG) work closely with the mechanical engineering team to provide the solution of VAV swirl diffusers. The VAV swirl diffusers, provided by Nailor Industries, are provided as a turn key solution with factory power supplies, cables and thermostats. Coordination of power supplies and diffusers was provided by MEG along with working with Johnson Controls to integrate their thermostat controller to operate the motors on the swirl diffusers.
