This project was a law center addition for the University of Maryland. The project included 12 floors not including the street and garden level, with offices, classrooms, libraries, auditoriums and courtrooms.
Sound levels in the classrooms and auditoriums/courtroom spaces were of major importance. Metropolitan Equipment Group (MEG) provided acoustical flex duct and approximately 100 sound traps including straight and elbow silencers for the transfer ducts.
This project also featured underfloor displacement ventilation. MEG furnished linear bar grilles mounted in the floor under the seating, as well as floor swirl diffusers located throughout. In addition we provided over 550 ft of curved linear bar grilles of varying lengths and radii – ranging from 12’ radius to 90’ radius. Coordination of lengths and radii was critical and required significant experience and knowledge of the system and construction schedule.
